British Professor Kevin Featherstone awarded honorary Greek citizenship

Featherstone took the oath in the presence of Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis and Secretary General for Citizenship Athanasios Balerbas.

He holds the ‘Eleftherios Venizelos’ Chair on Contemporary Greek Studies at the London School of Economics, where he is also Director of the Hellenic Observatory. His academic research focuses on the European Union and modern Greece, in the fields of comparative politics, public policy and political economy.

Featherstone was the first foreign member of Greece’s National Council for Research & Technology (ESET) in Greece, serving from 2010 to 2013.

In 2013 he was made a Commander of the Order of the Phoenix by Greek President Karolos Papoulias and in 2021 was made Grand Commander of the Order of the Phoenix.
