Bulgaria is considering the renewal of its joint agreement with Greece, which expires in 2022, against the background of the “resumption of the good bilateral economic cooperation of the Black Sea and within the framework of the European Travel Commission and the World Tourism Organization.

Bilateral ties in tourism are extremely positive, noted Bulgarian Deputy Tourism Minister Mariela Monteva during an event in the Epirus region of Greece.The event was organized by the Embassy of the Hellenic Republic in Sofia. Present at the event were representatives of the Greek embassy, ​​travel agencies and the tourism sector of Epirus.

More Bulgarian tourists in Greece

Georgios Staphylakis from the Hellenic Tourism Organization stated that his country is the closest and most attractive destination for Bulgarian citizens, BTA reports. The first half of 2022 saw a 15% to 20% increase in the number of Bulgarian tourists, he noted, adding that the sector recovery stood at 93% compared to 2019, and the hope is to achieve a full recovery in 2023.

The region of Epirus has more than 100 beaches with a total length of 200 km, it was pointed out at the event. Visitors can also enjoy mountain tourism, ski resorts, diving, rafting, horseback riding, and nightlife, among other activities.
