A journalistic survey named Kalymnos as the top choice of climbers.

The London Times highlights Kalymnos as Greece’s top destination for climbing in a recent feature on the most interesting Greek islands for off-peak vacations.

“The ‘besieged’ Greek economy enjoyed a successful tourist season, which continues after August and on islands that offer holidays away from the hordes of tourists and are suitable for ‘recharging’ one’s batteries”, the article emphasizes.A journalistic survey named Kalymnos as the top choice of climbers. The sponge divers island, as it is known, has some of the best rock climbing in the world, while visitors can admire the aesthetics of the picturesque villages, the outstanding examples of neoclassical art with art deco influences, the impressive harbor, and the Archaeological Museum with its bronze “Lady of Kalymnos” of the 4th century BC.

Additionally, the Times feature includes Symi for gastronomy, Agistri for cycling and hiking, Folegandros for sunsets, Serifos for moments of solitude, historic Ithaca, Tinos for water sports, cultural Syros, Paxos for sailing and Hydra for holidays without a car.

“We are organizing our call to journalists and institutions such as the EOT Offices regarding the multi-faceted possibilities of the destination, so that Kalymnos will be “prominent” in the proposals of major international media. Although global uncertainty “born” of the pandemic has so far stood in the way of new initiatives, we are returning dynamically to the field of organizing thematic tourist activities on the island”, added the Mayor of Kalymnia, Dimitris Diakomichalis.
