Greece donates armored vehicles and ammunition to Ukraine

Defense Minister Nikolaos Panagiotopoulos also took part in the Conference of the Contact Group on Defense of Ukraine, which was organized at the initiative of U.S. Secretary of Defense Lloyd Austin.

During his speech, the minister stressed that the invasion of Ukraine is a flagrant violation of international law, which undermines peace, security, and stability in Europe

Panagiotopoulos outlined the security assistance his country has provided to Ukraine, including ammunition and 20 BMP-1 IFVs, and stressed that Athens will continue to support the struggle of the Ukrainian people for the sovereignty and territorial integrity of their country.

On Jan. 31, Nikkei Asia reported that Greece refused to provide Ukraine with Leopard-2 tanks, as that would undermine Greek national security amid growing tensions with Turkey.
