Civil servants in Attica and Central Greece to return to work Tuesday

Civil servants in Attica and Central Greece overall are expected to physically return to work on Tuesday, as of 10:00 am and regardless of their regular schedule, the Interior Ministry said on Monday.

The ministry said the order related specifically to civil servants in the Attica Region and in the Central Greece Region, the latter of which includes the regions of Viotia, Evia, Evrytania, and Fthiotida.

Any appointments with the public before 10:00 am will be cancelled, it added.

Exemptions include civil servants whose duties relate to emergency weather services, who are responsible to local administrations or to individual entities such as hospitals rather than to the central government.

The public sector worked from home on Monday due to the ‘Barbara’ weather phenomenon, which brought heavy snow, high winds, and icy conditions to most of Greece.
