Uber app records massive increase in tourist traffic in Greece

Most app users visiting Greece open it and enter the country with it. This year’s data, compared to the pre-pandemic period, is really impressive. Judge for yourself by reading the Uber report for July and August.

This year compared to July 2019:

The number of users from abroad who visited Greece and opened the application increased by 127%, while the number of those who booked a trip increased by the same amount.

The number of foreign app users who use it to get to and from the airport increased by 189%.

July 2022 compared to June 2022:

The number of users from abroad who visited Greece and opened the application increased by 18%, while the number of visitors who used the platform increased by 20%. The number of transfers to/from the airport through the application increased by 17%.

This year compared to August 2019:

The number of foreign users who visited Greece and opened the application increased by 148%, and the number of booked trips increased by 124%.

The number of overseas users who used the app to travel to and from the airport increased by 153%.

In July this year, compared to the corresponding month of 2019, there was a significant increase in visitors who used the Uber application: from the UK (+81%), France (+80%) and the USA (+69%).

Compared to June 2022, the number of visitors who used the Uber app also increased: from France (+25%), US (+16%), UK (+14%). In August, the top three visitors who used the app were travelers from the UK (up 301%), France (up 248%) and the US (up 152%) – an increase compared to August 2019.

The three best visited places in Greece were Laimos Vouliagmeni, Kavouri and Varkiza, which were in high demand for because of the beaches.

The longest completed route was 613 kilometers – it included a trip from Thessaloniki to Halkidiki, Parga and back to Thessaloniki.

A significant increase in demand for non-traditional routes is noted by Uber, which has compiled a corresponding list of the most popular destinations.

It was headed by the “Arch of Galerius” (“Αψίδα του Γαλερίου”) in Thessaloniki, followed by the “Cemetery of Trains” near Thessaloniki, the “Theatre of Epidaurus” in Old Epidaurus, the “Museum of Olives and Greek Oil” in Sparta, the “Botanical Garden of Julia and Alexandru N. Diomedes” (“Βοτανικός Κήπος Ιουλίας και Αλεξάνδρου Ν. Διομήδους”) in Haidari, News Beast reported.
