Giannis Antetokounmpo may have been the standout in the latest game of Eurobasket 2022 with his impressive performance that led Greece to the next stage, however, it was the coach of Italy who won the unofficial title of the most viral stage.
Gianmarco Pozzecco, after the end of Italy’s game against Serbia, which ended with a huge victory for the “Azzurri”, met Giannis Antetokounmpo in the corridor of the dressing room.
Without thinking twice, he jumped and fell into the arms of the Greek Freak. It is no coincidence that the organising authority of Eurobasket, with its post on Twitter, requested that this particular scene become the most viral post of the event.
In his statements after the hug, Pozzecco himself explained how the hug with Antetokounmpo came about, revealing that it was the highest jump he had ever made in his life.
“I hugged Giannis Antetokounmpo in the middle of the locker room hallway. I was going to go out on the field and Giannis was coming in, obviously he was warming up. He ran and I jumped higher than I’ve ever jumped in my life because he’s tall and I hugged him,” said the coach of the Italian national team.
Apart, however, from the hug to Giannis Antetokounmpo, Pozzecco also discussed on Sunday for his move to hug the players of the Serbian national team one by one before celebrating the epic qualification to the last 16 of Eurobasket 2022 with his players.
