The largest programme of children accommodation in Europe is concluded this week with the reception of the last two missions, from Bucha and Poltava in Ukraine to Greece. The International Organisation for Migration was responsible for the internal movements by receiving and accompanying the guests to their destinations.
The project was coordinated by the Deputy Minister of Migration and Asylum, Sofia Voultepsi, in collaboration with the Ukrainian Ambassador to Greece, Sergii Shutenko and the Consul of Ukraine in Athens, Anna Tischenko, with the assistance of the NGO “FYLAKTO”, the head of the Mission of the International Organization for Migration in Greece, Gianluca Rocco, the General Secretary for Reception of Asylum Seekers, Manos Logothetis, the EUAA (European Asylum Service) and the Panhellenic Union of Private Camp Operators (PELK).
The last shipment of 21 children and three persons accompanying them from Poltava, Ukraine, is expected in Promahonas on Saturday, August 20.
