More than 1 million tourists are expected every week in Greece, Tourism Minister Vassilis Kikilias told Proto Thema on Saturday.
Greece “is set to see unprecedented figures in arrivals and in tourism industry earnings in the month of August, surpassing even the record-breaking numbers of 2019,” he added.
Citing the latest official figures, he added that the numbers of German and British tourists in July are higher than in 2019 in several destinations, including in Rhodes, where German visitors are up by 24.6%, and in Chania, Crete, where Germans are up by 78.3% and Britons by 43.2%.
Arrivals also went up at Athens International Airport in July 2022 compared to the same month in 2019: 29% more arrivals from Germany, 15% more from France, 19% from Israel, also noting a 257% rise in arrivals from Serbia and a 177% rise in visitors from Turkey.
