Kasos – Karpathos barren line to be serviced by “Prevelis”

The new contract foresees an adjustment of fees, which according to information was deemed necessary, because of the increase in marine fuel prices

The passenger ferry “Prevelis” will make today’s afternoon route at 6.30 for the Kasos – Karpathos barren line after the problem encountered by the ship “Olympus”. The Ministry of Shipping and Island Policy proceeded to call for a contract for the assignment of a public service to serve the barren line, as the ship “Olympus”, which is in the port of Piraeus, has been temporarily prohibited from sailing, until it completes the work in various sectors as ascertained by the Ship Inspection Directorate of the Ministry of Shipping.

The new contract has an adjustment of fees, which according to information was deemed necessary, because of the increase in marine fuel prices.

On Wednesday, the Coastal Transport Council held an emergency meeting in order to find out whether any company can cover the line. Despite including the subsidy in the invitation, but this was not achieved.

Finally, yesterday Thursday, the Coastal Transport Council gave an opinion in favor of the rent adjustment, which according to information was accepted and the “Prevelis” ship will now service the Kasos – Karpathos barren line.
