After two rough rounds, 2021 finalist Stefanos Tsitsipas had a welcomed easy afternoon at the French Open as the Greek hammered fellow 23-year-old Miakel Ymer 6-2, 6-2, 6-1.
“A lot of good rallies from my side,” said Tsitsipas on court. “I have a long history with Mikael, playing in juniors, and we’ve played each other a lot. I would like to congratulate him on his great effort, he had a good run to the third round once more. It was a good game from my side. I played really well and topped it off with some really good, patient tennis.”
Tsitsipas has won nine of his last ten matches at the French Open
Next will be someone even younger as Holger Rune reached his first Slam fourth round cruising past the last of the French players Hugo Gaston 6-3, 6-3, 6-3. Rune, who just turned 19, has won 11 of his last 13 matches and in his French Open debut, the Dane hasn’t dropped a set.
